DEMANDS OF CHRIST

TOPIC:      DEMANDS OF CHRIST

                                                     LESSON THREE
MAIN IDEA:  A Christian do not entangle him or herself with the works of darkness but endeavour to meet the demands of Christ. Who are you? You must be Christ-like if you are to be counted worthy of the Kingdom of God

STUDY TEXTS: “John 14:11-17”

LESSON OBJECTIVE:        To make it know that Christians stay clear from the works of Satan which is darkness.

INTRODUCTION:
Apostle Paul admonished the believers at Ephesus: “For ye were sometimes darkness, but now are ye light in the Lord: walk as children of light. And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them. For it is a shame even to speak of those things which are done of them in secret” (Ephesians 5:8, 11-12).
Another thing that makes some people reluctant or unable to follow the truth is their prominent positions in certain associations and their love for worldly praise and ungodly wealth. Such attitude was shown by some of the rulers in the days of Christ on earth. As it is written: “Nevertheless among the chief rulers also many believed on him; but because of the Pharisees they did not confess him, lest they should be put out of the synagogue: for they love the praise of men more than the praise of God” (John 12:42-43). Everyone is to choose for himself between light and darkness. No one can be in the light and at the same time be in darkness. There is no agreement between the two. “there is no fellowship between righteousness and unrighteousness.
In the light of the foregoing, it is therefore wrong to call anyone a Christian or disciple indeed who associate himself or herself with any secret cult or have anything to do with idolatry or having fellowship with false prophets. Chieftaincy tittles associated with pagan rites is denounced by any Christian. Christians are loyal to God in Christ Jesus without undivided action.
What is required of those who are involved in the works of darkness so that they can be saved is they need to repent so that they may be partakers of the blessings of Jesus Christ. But to continue to have fellowship with the works of darkness will in the end be fatal. (Romans 1:21-25, 28-32)
