TOPIC:     PRAYER AND FASTING AS A LIFE STYLE

                                                     LESSON TWO

MAIN IDEA:  There is always better end result for a Christian that fast and                     pray often.

STUDY TEXTS: “Daniel 6:9-10, Luke 2:36-37”

LESSON OBJECTIVE:       To teach that when a Christian fast and pray for any thing, the result know matter what it is, will always draw that individual to God’s plan.

INTRODUCTION:
Prayer and fasting is not only practiced by Old Testament believers but both New Testament Christians do the same. Many at times for anyone to be able to accomplish certain given tasks by the Lord, one must pray and fast for that purpose. In the Bible there are many examples like that of Daniel, Esther and other prophets and Apostles that God used to achieve various plans of God through fasting and prayers. When our Lord Jesus was with the apostles, he was asked a question like, why do John disciples fast and not your disciple? He never say there is no need to fast and pray any more, but listen to what He said in Matt. 9:15 “And Jesus said unto them, can the children of the bride chamber mourn, as long as the bride groom is with them? But the days will come, when the bride groom shall be taken from them, and then shall they fast.

SUBJECT MATTERS:
1.                 Fasting and prays observed under God instruction saved the whole nation (Jonah 3:1-10)
2.                 Because a group of people fasted and prayed the cause of destiny was changed (Esther 4:15-16)
3.                 Some circumstances can force Christian to fasting and prayers (Acts 27:33)
4.                 God do minister to us Christians direction and decision to take when we fast and pray (Acts 13:2)

PRACTICAL LESSON:
1.              Take a matter of your concern to God during this our church 21 days of fasting and prayers.

MEMORY VERSE:     “Matthew 4:2”
          And when He had fasted forty days and forty nights, He was afterward an hungered.

CLASS DISCUSSION:
1.                             How often do Christians need to fast and pray?
2.                             Can you mention one Old Testament and one New Testament Saint that fasted and pray to receive result from the Lord our God?
