INTRODUCTION:
Prayer and fasting is not only
practiced by Old Testament believers but both New Testament Christians do the
same. Many at times for anyone to be able to accomplish certain given tasks by
the Lord, one must pray and fast for that purpose. In the Bible there are many
examples like that of Daniel, Esther and other prophets and Apostles that God
used to achieve various plans of God through fasting and prayers. When our Lord
Jesus was with the apostles, he was asked a question like, why do John
disciples fast and not your disciple? He never say there is no need to fast and
pray any more, but listen to what He said in Matt. 9:15 “And Jesus said unto them,
can the children of the bride chamber mourn, as long as the bride groom is with
them? But the days will come, when the bride groom shall be taken from them,
and then shall they fast.
