THE MUST PREVAIL PRAYER

TOPIC:     THE MUST PREVAIL PRAYER

                                                     LESSON THREE

MAIN IDEA:  According to the Bible, there are several God’s promises to His children to answer them whenever they call.

STUDY TEXTS: “Psalms 91:14-16, Jeremiah 29:11-13”

LESSON OBJECTIVE:       God answer prayers prayed in His will and directions.

INTRODUCTION:
The Bible is replete with various assurances of God’s answer to prayer. But it has to be clear from the beginning that the Almighty God only answer prayers made to Him in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ (John 15:16, 16:23) for God do answer prayers offered through faith and the effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availed much. (Jam. 5:15-16) we are to pray with perseverance (Luke 18:1) and in righteousness and obedience. Some examples of people who received answers to their prayers in the Bible include Moses (Ex. 4:10-11) King Solomon (1st Kings 3:11-13) King Jehoshaphat (2nd Chro. 20:3, 14-15) Apostle Paul and Silas (Acts 16:25-26) etc.

SUBJECT MATTERS:
1.                 As a child of God there is no particular posture we have to take to pray for our heavenly father to hear us. (Luke 11:2)
2.                 The Bible stated various position such as bowing down (Gen 24:52, Mark 15:19)
3.                 Kneeling is another way we can pray to God (Psalm 95:6, 1st Kings 8:54)
4.                 Prayer of lifting one’s hands (1st Tim. 2:8)
5.                 Other forms include weeping, talking, agonizing and groaning (Joel 2:12)
6.                 It must be emphasized that praying without having been converted through the power of Jesus Christ, the true repentance that causes ones transformation of life and character will only result to a complete waste of time and energy (Prov. 28:9, Ps 66:18)
7.                 Righteousness which is right stand with God is very vital and important. To be involved in what Christians and others might call sacrificial activities and Philanthropic support to things like flood devastated victims by the unbeliever and wicked people is nothing but an abomination before God. (Pro. 15:9)
PRACTICAL LESSON:
1.              When praying we do need to center our spirit, soul and body on the will of God.
2.              So knowing the will of God concerning what we are praying about is very important.
MEMORY VERSE:     “2nd Chronicles 7:14”
If my people which are called by my name, shall humble themselves and pray and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land.
CLASS DISCUSSION:
1.                             What do you consider could hinder your prayers?
2.                             Do you think the posture of your body when praying will guarantee your prayer answer?
3.                             What are the likely posture to assume when praying?
