TOPIC: THE TRANSFIGURATION IS THAT SINGULAR EVENT
RECORDED IN ALL THE SYNOPTIC GOSPEL THUS MATT
17:1-8, MARK 9:2-8 AND LUKE 9 :28-36
DISCUSS THE SIGNIFICANCE OF THE EVENT IN NOT LESS
THAN 300 WORDS.
The
transfiguration of Christ Jesus as recorded in the book of Matthew, Mark and
Luke respectively was a supernatural experience. The event did not only shock
the discipline that was with him on the mountain , but also strengthen their
faith in God and confidence of the son ship authority of the master.
To
me, the book of Luke 9:28-36 seems to give a better clarification about Jesus
transfiguration during prayer to God on the mountain with three of his
associates (Peter, James and John) the
NIV bible vs 29,
“AS HE WAS PRAYING, THE APPEARANCE OF HIS
FACE CHANGED, AND HIS CLOTHES BECAME AS BRIGTH.........” VS 30...... “MOSES AND
ELIJAH APPEARED IN GLORIOUS SPLENDOR TALKING WITH JESUS”.......... BUT PETER,
JAMES AND JOHN WERE SLEEPING”.
This
scripture speaks volume of the revelation behind transfiguration
Furthermore, the word transfiguration as derived from Latin
terms, is also used to translate in the Greek as “METAMORPHOSE” meaning to
change into another, that is a supernatural being. But there is another twist
to the remarkable experience, of transfiguration. In view of that, what is
message is the sudden appearance of old prophet Moses and Elijah on the mountain as Christ
prays. The message on the sudden emergence of the dead prophet is that God gave
the convenant law to Moses, whereas he made Elijah a fire prophet, meaning, “MOSES
REPRESENT THE LAW, ELIJAH REPRESENT THE PROPHET, AND JESUS NOW IS THE FINAL
MESSIAH AND GOD HIMSELF.
