SLANDERERS IN GOD’S JUDGMENT A CHILD OF GOD DO NOT SLANDERS

TOPIC:      SLANDERERS IN GOD’S JUDGMENT A CHILD OF GOD DO NOT SLANDERS

                                                     LESSON ONE
MAIN IDEA:  The efficacy of the royal law according to the scriptures demands that “as ye would that men should do to you, do ye also to them likewise”. The sins of men are many and varied.

STUDY TEXTS: “Exodus 20:16; 23:1-3, Romans 1:32”

LESSON OBJECTIVE:        To lay false accusation against fellow man in order to get him/her involved in trouble is wickedness while any who spreads such injurious accusation knowing it to be false is equally guilty before God.

INTRODUCTION:
Judgment is the ability to make sensible decisions after carefully considering the best thing to do. In other words, it is an opinion that you form about something after thinking about it carefully. From the foregoing, it is worthy of note that whoever makes a false accusation against his/her fellow man to put him in a bad light before others is very uncharitable and wicked.
Our purpose and concern is to treat the subject against the background of the law of God. Infact, by the standard of divine judgment, the sin of slander is of far more serious consequence than what it obtains in human society. People have suffered in different ways because of false allegations or reports made against them. Some have been cast into prison as a result of false accusations – some others have even been killed. Are there not people who have been sacked from their jobs because of malicious misrepresentations? And can anyone deny that false reports have caused some homes to be broken? So consider these things.
SUBJECT MATTERS:
1.                 Whoever spreads injurious accusations without hearing from the accused is guilty (Pro. 10:18)
2.                 Some people actually take pleasure in sins and so commit them willfully. (Heb. 10:26-27)
3.                 Some others do so out of ignorance. (Rom 10:3)
4.                 Many have fallen victims because of malicious misrepresentations. (Gen. 39:10-20)

PRACTICAL LESSON:
1.     Christians do not lay false accusations against fellow-man.
2.     Christians do not take pleasure in sins, nor raise false accusations against others.
3.     Christian do not partaker in other’s sins in order to please men.

MEMORY VERSE:     Deuteronomy 5:20
Neither shall thou bear false witness against thy neighbour.

CLASS DISCUSSION:
1.                             Do unto others as you would expect from others. Discuss.
2.                             Highlight the consequences of bearing false witness.
